Why do we call ourselves "Advanced"?


  • Learn about the major causes of most wrecks including Speed, Space, Distraction, Visibility, Traction, Intimidation, Miscalculation, Impatience, and Overconfidence.  You will see how these are connected and then begin to remove yourself from the accident equation by addressing each of these causes.  There are many more causes of wrecks - can you think of any?

  • Learn about the "why..." in everything - by learning about why you do certain things students will be more likely to drive safer.  After a while the student will be able to identify the risk, see what defensive driving technique could work,  and explain "why" to the instructor.

  • Promote thinking outside the box - by focusing exclusively on safety, not just by what is legal or illegal.  You will identify the rare situations where obeying the law could get you injured or killed.

  • Learn to ask directions for safer, smoother lane changes and to promote independent driving.

  • Identify psychological and sociological factors that negatively affect all drivers and how to create simple strategies to address these factors.

  • Learn about space management and how it can reduce stress and possible save your life.

  • Learn strategies to increase your ability to identify risks such as sitting higher in your seat, looking for shadows, and many others.

  • Practice actual proper scanning techniques - "keep your eyes on the road" is too vague and does not teach exactly where to look

  • Learn to prioritize potential risks (like bicyclists vs car).

  • Advanced lane change technique not taught anywhere.

  • Learn when to check your speed and rear view mirror - "constantly check your speed and your rear view mirror" is actually unsafe.
